The Sea-Dweller’s history is deeply linked with the world of deep-sea exploration. Born in the late 1960s, it was designed to cater to the growing market of deep-sea and saturation divers. The first Sea-Dweller was rated to 660 meters, compared to the Submariner’s depth of 200 meters.
One of the model’s most defining features is the revolutionary helium escape valve. This was introduced to combat the problem of helium atoms getting inside the pressure chamber could working their way inside the watch, causing the crystal to pop off during decompression.
The Rolex Sea-Dweller 126603 is the first Sea-Dweller to be made with 18ct yellow gold with stainless steel. It features a black dial dressed up with gold accents and gold hands, with a gold bezel housing a black ceramic bezel with gold inlaid numbers.
This watch is not just a timepiece, it’s a piece of history. Own the Sea-Dweller, and own a part of the deep-sea exploration legacy.
